Work In Progress and Techniques

This is where I will show the in-betweens of builds and how it was created step by step, it'll also be showing more details and closer shot that the finished sets will include.

The Shop/ Building is the biggest set I've made being 137 cm tall, it has taken a lot of different techniques, ideas and changes to make the set work. with new, materials and a much bigger scale than I am used to. the specification of the set was to be armature size. The photos below contain the progress and detailing of this set and showing how the set came to life.

the detailing and small work that was added to the set brought it to life and added age and realism that I have never thought of before, although I could have done more I feel that this would be over the top and wouldn't correspond well with the rest of the design

the internals of the house are and difficult to design and get correct to the same measurements of the exterior of the shop, I have separated the internals and externals of the house set, this is to allow the filming of the interior of the set when animating.

Building the wagon was a very fun experience, allowing me to understand the designs and moving parts of the draws and wheels, the design of the wagon was more Gipsy styled this is to allow me to add colours and a change to my usual style.

the wagon also required different bottles, fruits, and small props to make the wagon seem used and realistic.

with the exaggerated colours and aged colours the wagon is brought to life.

Sewer set is a wooden framed set covered in air-dry clay cover to create the look of bricks and mortar, the pipes are made if card and wire and painted to look like a pipe.

The Weston style wagon is made from the ideas of the vending wagon, with moving parts, for the wheels, main chassis, and back door. the wagon has a canvas roof that is embroidered to hold to the wagon and separate the windows from the surrounding area of the canvas the wagons details include fake leather sleeping bags tied to the sides of the wagon and a foam covered seat upfront. the wagon was going to electronic working lights but due to time constraints, this wasn't added.

Work Experience builds
This is my second attempt at a set, this was a test to try wood and enamel paints as part of a set to see how they made the look of metal, this taught me that wood isn't a good base for making a plastered or rendered look. this influenced John's clock shop a lot to find a material I liked to give the illusion of rendering.
This house was supposed to have internals but as the house came together the internals became harder to add and get correct measurements, this made me think ahead in future builds and planning for internals before finishing the outsides.
The first propper set that I ever built is made out of a plastic board this was due to the changeability of the material and how it can be carved out to make certain shapes and looks of different materials such as wood and stone. it even takes different paints well allowing for a correct look of the material.
for making a character I sculpted a form that I want the character to look like and then updated an armature bought from Malvern armatures to fit my character design, this involved fitting a metal plate to become the base of its head making hands and bulking out the torso.
I will also have to mold its hands and fell to make a usable armature to animate.
